All Southern California producers must attend this meeting.
8:30AM HOW TO EXPORT YOUR FINISHED FILM FOR THE 168
Speaker: Mike Wech (Editor for Lionheart Movies)

Each year a few of the "168" producers miss the turn-in deadline and thus are not eligible for awards consideration. The biggest reason for this is due to trouble in post production. This class is to help editors visualize the post-production process and avoid the heartbreak for their team.
9:00AM DIRECTING LIKE A PRO
Speaker: Greg Michael (2nd Unit Director, “GI Joe: the Rise of Cobra”, “Hotel For Dogs”)

Learn the skills employed by professional directors including getting the most out of production days, telling the story efficiently and effectively, covering a scene as well as prioritizing your shots. Understanding how best to prepare yourself and communicate with your crew will help make you more effective and lead to a better production -- and a more fulfilling experience for your cast and crew.
10:00AM THE HERO’S JOURNEY: WHAT IS YOUR PROTAGONIST’S QUEST AND WHY SHOULD THE AUDIENCE CARE?

Learn what the “Hero’s Journey” is and the different stages heroes must gothrough in order to make a story satisfying. You will also learn story telling techniques that will help to draw in your audience and make them care about the hero.

How do you write a script based on a Bible verse and make it a compelling, riveting drama rather than a boring, preachy message film or a film that ignores the verse entirely.

1:30PM LIGHTING 101
Speaker: John Gresch (Vice President, Lighting Division, Arri Inc.)
In this session John will cover the basics of what it takes to light a scene. John will move from basics to intermediate concepts, so this is a great session for students of lighting of all skill levels.
1:30PM UNIFIED STUCTURE: USING THEME TO DEVELOP CHARACTER AND PLOT
Speaker: Brennan Smith (Writer/Story Consultant, “Rapid Eye Movement”)

Learn strategies to quickly convert your theme from concept to a a workable outline to compelling characters with great conflict.
1:30PM TIPS ON MAKING A SHORT FILM
Speaker: Wes and Amanda Llewellyn (Writing/Producing Team: “The Moment After” series, “Sid Roth’s, It’s Supernatural”)

Three time winners of the Best Film, Best Scriptural Integration and numerous other awards at the 168 Film Festival, Wes and Amanda will share secrets on telling stories with strong production value and thematic integration of a foundational verse.

What is Divine Inspiration? How do you get it? Learn how to determine what kind of story to tell and how to find your story’s voice.

Producers learn the basics of producing a short film on a tight budget and schedule. Both newbies and experienced filmmakers will benefit from JJ’s 17 years in Hollywood.
