OPTION 1 – 168 Signature Film: This is our main, signature competition (now in it's 8th year). Filmmakers are assigned a verse and they make a film in 168 hours. The finished film is turned in for the deadline. These films all screen at the 168 Film Festival and are in competition for awards.
OPTION 2 – Unlimited Documentary: These films do not have the same constraints as the 168 Signature films. Producers pick their own verse and may start shooting as early as September 15, 2009. Finished films are for the same deadline as the 168 Signature Films. Unlimited Documentaries compete only in their own category.
OPTION 3 – Write of Passage Spotlight: This is a continuation of the Write of Passage Screenwriting Competition, held earlier in the year. Producers bid on top scripts from the
Write of Passage as follows: Participating producers get "100 points to spend" in bidding on scripts, which they will then produce for the contest. Producers who have been through the 168 process in prior years may start production right away. Producers who have not had the "168 Experience" will use the same constraints as the 168 Signature Films. Either way, the finished film must be turned in for the same deadline as the 168 Signature Films. These films are screened at the festival but will not be in competition with 168 Signature films.
OPTION 4 – Unlimited Narrative: Write of Passage Screenwriting Competition writers and Write of Passage Regional Competition Producers may elect to produce any of the scripts written for the contest (other than the top 8 scripts). Producers who have been through the 168 process in prior years may start production right away. Producers who have not had the "168 Experience" will use the same constraints as the 168 Signature Films. Either way, the finished film must be turned in for the same deadline as the 168 Signature Films. These films are screened at the festival but will not be in competition with 168 Signature films.
